Forgiving and letting go are steps on our road back to happiness

Image
I can't believe that the semester has gone by so fast already. From time to time, I think about where I want to see myself in the future... Somehow science doesn't seem to fit the criteria any more. I've thought this way for a while now, but I was stubborn to take the step to initiate change. A friend working in the lab has recently expressed her disdain for her newly acquired career, apparently lack of communication was the main contributing factor. I've missed out on seeing people I want to see because I slept in or fell asleep whilst getting ready to go out. I had a great time returning calls and messages. I've been waking up in the evening and sleeping in the early hours of morning. I've literally become an owl. One thing which annoys me is private numbers, how am I supposed to return your call if I don't even know who to call back? According to one friend, I've been in a comatose-like-state lately. I couldn't have said it better myself. Ther...

tuesdays are the best

Falling asleep in the science learning centre. Molecular bio wasn't great, our PCR didn't quite work out. Hopefully the 3rd one will go according to plan. Sigh, organic chem practical soon. I just want to pass out and sleep. I barely slept last night, two hours of lying in bed can hardly be called a nap. I'll be glad when Friday is over and done with... I wish these reports will just write themselves, life would be easier. I could really use a coffee right now.

I had to go to Hawksbury again today to collect my experiment results, it was a good thing Tim had class up there as well today so I got a lift there. After my lab class, I met up with Tim and went to his lecture for forensic chemistry. It wasn't that bad, though it was hard to keep my eyes open in that depressing little room. I nagged Tim to take me to the nursery near the campus, for some reason I was thinking they'd sell venus fly traps. Well they didn't have them, but I did find something else... Serissa foetida ! It reminded me of my failed bonsai so I didn't end up buying it. I was quite tempted to buy the lavender plant but I don't have that much space to grow it on my balcony. Pity, I do love lavenders. Turns out the fellow running the nursery graduated with a major in horticulture at the university. He helped me pick out a plant to grow on my balcony. He pretty much told me the roses were for free and gave Tim a pot as well. I loved the...

The field trip wasn't that bad. I'm glad I ran into Olly and a few other familiar faces at the agricultural campus. We pretty much stuck together for our experiment, and I'd say it was good teamwork. I like visiting this campus, well I love the environment there. Its quite relaxing seeing all the grass and farm animals here and there. I discovered the scenery was best enjoyed whilst sitting in a covertible with the wind through your hair. The downside was super messy hair and untamed knots. Oh yes, I decided to help Pisan with her research by buying two cupcakes. Sticky date with caramel on top and a strawberry cupcake. Of course I shared the cupcake with Cindy. Pisan gets.... The lovely box! I can't wait to go to Adriano Zumbo's cafe with Pisan on Saturday. Yum... More macarons!

planetarium

Met up with Jess, Tom, Tim and Sara last Thursday. Its been some time since we all got together, I'd say the last time that happened it was a little more than a year ago. I do miss old times when we all used to have lunch and just hang out at parra after classes. Good old times. Its as though things haven't really changed that much. We've grown a little wiser, a little more ambitious (sometimes) and maybe a little more zombie-like from all nighters (I mean me). I've been craving macarons at Baroque more often. Pisan said she has to do some research for her design assignment, coincidentally she is trying to collect packaging from pastry stores. Yes, this is good news for me and my sweet tooth. Perhaps we'll finally go make a visit to Balmain for macarons at Adriano Zumbo's cafe. I can tell I'm going to enjoy  pigging out  helping Pisan with her research... On the other hand, my research is killing me. DNA markers, PCR, Clostridium botulism, and benz...

Another crap day today, I hate Tuesdays. In fact, I hate weekdays in general. Molecular biology pract was a disaster, DNA bands didn't show up after DNA electrophoresis. Organic chemistry tutorial wasn't too bad, I semi enjoyed it. Mom seems a little better today, well she had made plans to get her passport renewed and try make it to the funeral (which is within the coming of days). Except one small problem, she can't make it in 2 days. So it is suffice to say that she will not be able to see her own mother's face one last time. I feel bad about that because if I was in her position, I'd probably live the rest of my life in much remorse. She asked me if she should even go back, considering she won't make it to the funeral... Cindy and I suggested she should go to pay her last respect to her mother. Sure she is getting cremated, but it doesn't mean she can't go. I don't know if what I'm typing makes much sense right now, afterall I am rather ...

The holiday seems to have gone by quite rapidly. I know this because I'm going back to classes tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow. And quite frankly I'm dreading every single bit of it. I haven't really written anything at all this holiday, so I should imagine my writing would resemble scribbles. I've discovered an interesting paraody of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Don't get me wrong, I tried to read the original thing, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The book seemed a lot more interesting when zombies were added to the equation. I did mention that I like all things familiar. I loved Polly Pocket back when I was a kid. My cousin loved them too (and Sailor Moon), and he was a boy. H and I went to Beca's place and I think I started squealing like a high school girl when I saw her collection of Polly Pockets. You'll never guess who else has a liking for Polly Pocket... It seems even boys (other than my cousin) like them. In fact, I think Beca's nephe...

the mystery

Today I went into uni to hand in my biochem kit key. Pity Herbert wasn't there so I had to hand my key into the other technical staff in the office. I stopped at the stairs and was sort of transfixed by the lighting above the stairs. It reminded me of Earth Science classes. We all sat in front of the stairs and once Christine mentioned the light looked an awful lot like a pokemon of some sort. That light certainly bears similarities to a Pineco... Striking resemblance. I think I've seen one too many pokemon re-runs... I think I am getting a bit too stressed lately. I handed in the papers for deferring my micro exam. I really wasn't up to it. But I'm not going to stress about it. I'm just going to focus on the HR/IR exam for now then worry about the deferred exam. I was spacing out at Parra station today (horrid heat), and noticed two people a few metres ahead of me communicating with sign language. I've always wanted to learn sign language when I was in ...

a step back in time

I could use some cheering up during this time of the semester. This calls for a happy post (okay, I totally stole Suze's idea there)... Good times in first year... Minus stressing over the Chem 1 exam Amy's birthday dinner. Her kids are the sweetest things. Silly Noddy, thats only your reflection! I think he has some self esteem issues... I wonder how many giggles it took before we got into our costumes. You guys made me laugh so much. I love you guys haha Sure things can get pretty stressful at times and sometimes I feel like giving up. I'm glad my friends are still there to make me smile through the thick and thin. Oh Sara... I know me and Pisan are so pretty in that picture.

impasse

I think I made a very good impression on the new lecturer for biochem. I walked in fashionably late, 30 minutes late. I even took the liberty of literally falling asleep in the workshop whilst she went through calculations. I think her name was Catherine, but I was too sleepy to even recall anything. I woke up to find her staring at me, "have you done the calculations yet?" I can tell she is really going to like me! I had stayed up all night to complete my HR/IR essay, it was a horrid night. I couldn't keep my eyes open for long enough to finish typing a sentence. I'm just relieved this very despisable week is over for now. So I'm contemplating getting myself 3 new bonsai trees this weekend. Preferably flowering ones, I need some colour to brighten up my grey days. I was thinking of getting a Crepe Myrtle or an Azealea. Do pardon my spelling, I'm really tired. I probably can't even tell the difference between left and right now. I imagine I won't b...

when ambivalence strikes

Sigh. I've always felt ambivalence looming ahead before me, more so after we crossed paths. I often find myself wondering if things would be any better if we had never met. I grow tiresome of constantly thinking and more thinking. And perhaps you're right Elisa, I am worrying myself sick. My initial thought was to not think about these issues furthermore. But what good would that do? I opted to ignore the mumbler yesterday and even as I write. And what good did that do? You only crossed my mind more so than often. And as Susu mentioned, maybe being Schizophrenic or being diagnosed with Alzheimer's is the only cure. But Susu, I guess its much too early for us to speak of those things (perhaps in a few more decades, eh?)! For me, I'd choose to deject and forsake matters which complicate my mind. Life is only so long, I only have so much time to worry. Perhaps it is for the best that I pretend you don't exist. And I wish that would would also follow suit. Each morn...
